The Handbook

The Handbook

Before the book, there was the handbook.

Pulled together in a week, in France, in the days before the film premiered. Eighty pages of stories, art, interviews, and guides.

It is a shorter way in. If the film is the signal and the book is the origin story, the handbook is the conversation starter — something to leave on a table, pass to a friend, read before a screening.

It includes stories of action from the community, an interview with Ellie, Jon Alexander on the citizen story, a guide to hosting social cinema, and an essay on the power of the campfire.

It was made from what was available, in the time that was available, for free.

That, too, is ACTionism.

Free to download. Free to share. Made from what was available, in the time that was available.
