From a seed hunt in Norwich to a shared meal in Wellington New Zealand, people are already finding the others, and there are still eight weeks to go until the 'big' day. ### **New to #CitizenFriday? A quick recap** ****#CitizenFriday is the day formerly known as Black Friday, reimagined as a ritual that celebrates connection, not commerce.** Every year, the last Friday in November arrives with corporate fanfare and slashed prices, telling us we need to buy more. It's the loudest day in a system built on consumption, one that keeps us busy, tired and disconnected from each other and the places we live. But most of us already have more than enough. What we're often missing is time: with ourselves, with each other, with nature, and with the things that make us feel human. So on Friday 27 November, **ACTionism invites everyone who sees things differently to join in together: in fields, in homes, around tables, in workshops, on walks, or online**. After that, it carries on as a weekly ritual. Not a campaign, just a small act each Friday. A chance to be a bit more human. We think of it as share, repair or get some fresh air, but there really are no rules: **Repair** – a jumper, a relationship, or even the soil by planting some bulbs. **Share** – a tool, a skill, an hour, a lift, a meal, or some time making art together. **Get some fresh air** – even if it's just ten minutes and a bit of a nosy at the sky, or a walk round the block. ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/62/be/62be9196-9a65-4831-81a9-71e1c2b2f527/content/images/2026/10/image.png) The banner above, created by Gav, celebrates one of our favourite quotes, ' **In this exquisitely connected world, it's never a question of 'critical mass.' Gather seeds and plant them to help grow a new woodland. **Northam Burrows, Devon** – A beach walk and clean with Siobhan Strode. Pick up litter if you like, or simply walk, roll and chat about being citizens and making the world a better place. **Berlin, Germany** – Tea and a stroll through the city with Lisanne. Plenty of life to inspire conversation, and a chance to connect minds. **Wellington, New Zealand** – A shared meal hosted by Harv at Collective Intelligence. Many are asking the same question: how do we help young people thrive in a world of AI, division and climate change, when the curriculum leaves so little room? So we're hosting our first education-focused drop-in, co-hosted with Dr Rob Bowden of the Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester and Lifeworlds Learning, who designs and leads transformational learning journeys.
